  • It's good to see that the 'Gun' factory site is working again, I used to look in on the old site before the factory closed and can see that you have most if not all of the old info. I served my apprenticeship between 1971-1975 and before moving to Cornwall I represented the Factory at Football and have seen some of the team photos on the site. (long hair and dodgy fashions)I also found photos of My Father in Law 'Dougie' Pink and the Cricket club presentation for him.

All in all the new site is shaping up very well and it is good to know that all the history and memories will not be lost.Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing more info soon.

  • Great site, nice to see that the factory is being remembered after the importance it played to the defence of the country and Nottingham in general.

  • Its the first time I have looked at an RO(N) website and obviously its a bit late since the place is no more, still its good that the website exists. Not everthing from the factory has disappeared though, in fact I bet we all have things from the old place to remind us of the vibrant place it was in its pomp when the Drop Stamp was like hells kitchen, when there were hundreds of barrels at final inspection and Mad Johnny Huffedine made us smile at his antics.

On the last day I dug one of the rose bushes out of the rose bed in front of the Admin Block and got one of the police from the main gate to help hold the bag open! The rose lived but only by a thread, but last year I moved house and the rose moved with me and guess what, it has leapt back into life and is flowering like mad. I still don't know what it is called but it is still a big shocking pink hybrid tea rose and it smells great.
