Processes

This is a summary of the Processes area of the site. The Processes have been sub-divided to show the many and varied manufacturing process used at the site.

  • Engineering and Development:
    This shows the work undertaken by the Design and Drawing Offices within the Engineering Department.

  • Fitting and assembly:
    This shows both detailed and large scale fitting and assembly work.

  • Forge and Foundry:
    This shows all the processes involved with the Forge and Foundry, including Heat treatment.

  • Inspection and Despatch:
    This shows some of the different quality and inspection work undertaken and the work involved to prepare items for despatch.

  • Machining:
    This shows all the different types of machining undertaken.

  • Trials and Testing:
    This shows some of the different testing that was carried out both in the Factory and at special testing facilities or firing ranges.

  • Welding and Fabrication:
    This shows the different welding and sheet metal capability.

  • Miscellaneous and General:
    This covers the the non-specific facilities used.

  • Autofrettage:
    This covers the special facilities used for the autofrettage capability.

  • Plating:
    This covers the special facilities used for the plating of components and barrels.

  • CET Production
    This covers some of the production set-ups used to manufacture the Combat Engineer Tractor.
